Kelly Tang’s Two Symphonic Dances: Radiance and Spark were commissioned for and premiered at the 10th anniversary of the Esplanade in 2012, while the inspiration for Konzertstück was Schumann’s response to the invention of the valved horn. The SSO horns tackle this showcase for the instrument, and the strings will feature in the vigorous Orawa by Polish composer Wojciech Kilar of The Pianist fame.
