Orquesta Yambeque is Perth's Premier Latin Band we have regular performances at some of Perth's most exclusive Live Music Venues including the very prestigious "Ellington Jazz Club" , The Laneway Lounge , The Blue Flamingo , The Mustang Bar , Pagoda Resort & Spa , Clancys Fish Pub and we have also participated as headlining act for several major festivals in WA including The Spanish Film Festival , Little Italy by the Sea , The Latin American Music Festival , Leederville Carnival , Brunch on Roberts in Subiaco and many others , we also travel regionally throughout WA including performing at Settlers Tavern in Margaret River , Caves House in Yallingup , Divers Tavern in Broome , The Tambrey Tavern in Karratha , We have also performed in Melbourne , Darwin and overseas in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
The band consist of a minimum of 7 members including 2 brass , 2 percussion , bass , piano and a lead vocalist however in some occasions we perform as a 9 piece with an additional percussionist and extra brass .
The word Yambeque derives from Afro-Latin Roots and is commonly used in Salsa from the 70s and 80s Tito Puente
released an Album 1995 called Yambeque: Progessive Side of Tito Puente , La Sonora Ponceña one of Puerto Rico's most accomplished Salsa Bands also released a song in 1982 called "Yambeque" and is one of the bands most popular songs in Puerto Rico the word "Yambeque" means "Rumbero" or a Party Person it also can be translated to mean a African Party . To keep it simple its a word that truly represents Salsa in Puerto Rico and around the world that listen to traditional Salsa from the Golden Era of the 70s and 80s .
The music interpreted by Yambeque is not only Latin Friendly but also Friendly to people who have never listened to Latin Music before .
